Location: London, UK
This semi detached family residence was extended to provide a large kitchen and entertainment space. The form of the extension picks up on the unusual geometry of the house, in both plan and section. The space opens out onto the garden, with triple sliding glass doors, providing uninterrupted views and spaces. The roof slopes in response to the changing levels of the house and garden, and the facade is skewed to provide solar shading, and to emphasise the twisted geometry of the house. The extension is clad in stone filled Gabions; an iteration of the existing pebble dash render of the existing house. The modules of the stones within the wire baskets vary in size and density, to allow views through the kitchen window, without compromising privacy.
